Cardiovascular Fitness Cardiovascular endurance is important for windsurfers due to the fact that windsurfing will use both your aerobic and anaerobic energy systems for fuel. Having a greater baseline cardiovascular fitness level will help you last longer in the water and recover quicker. There are ways however to keep your fitness up even when there is no wind. Cross-training by doing a different sport can be a highly effective way to keep your fitness up. Otherwise you can use the specific interval training techniques we use in the Total Windsurfing Fitness program. Interval training can be done by running, or another suitable exercise (eg rowing, kayaking, riding, etc).
